Test postponed 1 day...

HW: Finish Chapter 1 practice test handout.
Also, try your best to prove the 3 statements(they're actually theorems in chapter 2) in the colored boxes on pages 54 and 56:
1) Vertical angles are congruent.
2) The sum of the measures of the angles in a linear pair is 180.
3) Perpendicular lines intersect to form four right angles.
Remember we prove statements using definitions, given information, postulates and previously proven theorems.
It might help to draw a general diagram in order to refer to the figures on the proof (I gave you a head start in class).
Note that for each statement the hypothesis is the GIVEN and the conclusion is what you need to prove. You should be able to identify them without the statement being in the if-then form.

Hi there,

Today is a bit different from what I had planned. I had an appointment at 10am, off campus, and so I missed 2nd period, geometry 9C.
In periods 1 and 5 I distributed a handout with 20 practice test problems. Period 2 got it from the sub.
The answers were provided towards the end to correct what you completed. Most students finished the handout in class.
Tomorrow, I will review the postulates and theorems from the chapter and provide more practice for the test.
STUDY. Read the chapter. Do some problems over again. Make sure you understand the definitions of terms. I have observed that some students are confused with certain statements--they think they are definitions and they are NOT. Example: the definition of vertical angles is a certain description of the figure...NOT that they are congruent. Their congruency is a result that can be proven.

Ok bye :)
