Mon 04/05/10

HW: Work on the polygons handout given in class. Fill in the tables for the angle sum of polygons and the measure of each interior angle in regular polygons (triangles to decagon).

Today we began a new unit on polygons and their areas. Chapter 10 in the book. There will be additional handouts given in class that will not necessarily align with the sections in the book.

Note: standardized testing this week for freshmen: Wednesday and Thursday.

Note: 7 weeks till finals week.

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
