Fri 05/14/10

HW: Handout (both sides) on linear equations.

I'm still here....

TODAY:

1) I returned lots of old HW and your VOLUME QUIZ and YOUR new Surface area QUIZ.

2) I gave you a progress report so you can check what you have missing. The report includes all new quiz scores.

3) You may still turn in HW from 4/28 to now. If you have it, give it to me today OR Monday.

4) We worked on Linear Equations from a handout in class. It is HW if you didn't finish it.

NEXT week: Bring your own calculator, final review, and book (and lots of paper and pencil). You will begin studying and practicing for your final.

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
