Mon 8/23/10

HW: Pg 50 #39, 42-49 It is mainly review since we are not done with section 1-6. Show your work. Copy the given (important) information about each problem.

Today we covered 1-6 Exploring Angles. We defined: ray, opposite rays, angle, straight angle, naming angles, interior and exterior of angles, degrees, protractor.

Tomorrow: 2 more postulates and definitions of the different kinds of angles and angle bisector.

TEST on Thursday will cover sections 1-2, 1-4, 1-5, and 1-6 ONLY!!

Start studying- you must memorize all definitions and postulates and theorems.

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
