Tues 10/26/10

HW: Pg128 #16-40 even

Today: Lesson 3-1 on Parallel lines and transversals.
Learn how to identify the pairs of angles formed when 2 lines are cut by a transversal: Corresponding angles, Alternate Interior angles, Alternate exterior angles, Consecutive Interior angles, Consecutive Exterior angles.

Also, try to remember how to duplicate a given angle with a compass and straightedge.
Remember we discussed in class that the "corresponding angles" would have to be congruent if the lines are to be parallel. Therefore, to construct a line that is parallel to another given line, you need to make an angle and copy it to its corresponding angle (this requires a transversal).
Come see me at tutoring and I'll show you...it's a lot easier than it sounds! Bring your compass and straightedge!
