Monday 11/23/09

HW: Study and write the proofs of theorems 6-5 through 6-8. Proof of theorem 6-6 was presented in class today. Also, study for the chapter 5 test which you can retake on Wednesday (only). See me if you need help or have questions.

Today we wrote and discussed the proofs of theorems 6-5 through 6-8. You were supposed to attempt them on your own over the weekend. We had a pop quiz on one of those proofs. I purposely chose an easy one...if you were paying attention and were involved in our discussion, you should have done fine- hopefully.

Tomorrow I will cover section 6-3.

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
