TGIF 11/20/09

HW: Prove all the theorems in section 6-2. There are 4. The GIVEN for each is that a certain quadrilateral has the given properties (ex: the diagonals bisect each other). Write this in terms of the segments of the diagram that you should create yourself! Label the diagram completely and accordingly. The PROVE statement for EACH theorem is that the quadrilateral is a PARALLELOGRAM. It will always be so by the definition of parallelogram. Therefore, the last statement/reason for each is: ABCD is a parallelogram/Definition of parallelogram.

Today I handed out a sheet with the 5 tests for parallelograms (lesson 6-2). One of them is the definition of parallelogram and the other 4 are the new theorems you have to prove for HW. Hopefully you took notes because we discussed most of these proofs completely. The one that seems to be the most difficult is proving the quad. is a parallelogram when its opposite angles are congruent. Leave it for last.
You should note that most of these proofs required you to draw a diagonal. On your proof, you should mention that can draw this segment since 2 points determine a line. It should take one step. Then prove 2 triangles are congruent...

Semi-POP QUIZ on one of these proofs this MONDAY!!!!! Be prepared. :)

Have a nice weekend.
