HW: Handout problems #1-8 on using the quadratic formula.SHOW ALL THE STEPS. Use the formula even if you can factor the equation.

Today we are reviewing radical expressions and the quadratic formula. Many of you have forgotten many algebra skills, including the above. Please pay attention and try to master these topics. It will be important for upcoming geometry topics as well as the next few years in math!

On quadratic equations:
They are called quadratic because of their degree. The degree is based on the largest power term.
Quadratics in one variable, x, have an x term to the 2nd power.
In the quadratic formula, the a, b, c's are real numbers-- not the x's. They are the coefficients of
the x terms.
Please watch the order of operations when evaluating the quadratic formula!!
