Monday 11/9/09

HW: finish your constructions and investigate the one special property of the centroid, incenter, and circumcenter (ignore the orthocenter for now). You should have 12 triangle constructions attached to your table handout.

HW Note: there will be 2 special cases in which the point of concurrency falls ON the triangle- not inside nor outside. You should be able to specify this location. It has a name!

Today we reviewed instructions about the weekend assignment. There were a few confused individuals and some that have forgotten the steps to certain constructions.

The QUIZ on your schedule has been moved from Tuesday (tomorrow) to this Friday or possibly next Monday. We need more time for investigations and special theorems relating to our triangle special segments.

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
