Tuesday 11/17/09

HW: Page 242 #9-17 odds and 25-33 odds. Make sure you CONSTRUCT when it says DRAW. Copy the problems. Your work should be labeled and informative.

Today we worked out ALL the problems from yesterday's test. Hopefully it helped everyone understand the questions and how to express your answers (show the work).

I returned some HW and gave everyone a PROGRESS REPORT that showed your HW scores, test scores, and class percentage & grade.

Parents, progress reports for all classes will be posted online tomorrow. It only shows D's and F's. If you want a detailed report for geometry, email me with your child's name and I will reply with an attachment.

We will begin chapter 6 tomorrow.

FYI: extra credit work will be averaged into your grades at the semester evaluation (in Dec).

I love math!!! By the way, I had a baby May 26, 2010 (William, little Will) and he is doing great! This is my 9th year teaching math and my 2nd year at TPA. I have been teaching geometry at least twice a day since 2004 so it is a math subject I know inside and out!

In 2000, I received my B.S. from UCLA for Applied Math and a minor in French. I love languages. I'm fluent in Spanish too. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Los Angeles since 1981, when I was 5...are you doing some math yet? I was always good at math, so this definitely helped my interest in the subject. I actually applied to colleges as a math major because I couldn't think of another subject I could dedicate a few years to and not be bored! I had no idea I was going to be a teacher until 2001. I got a job teaching 8th grade algebra and was suddenly thrown into the world of the Los Angeles Unified School District. After 2 years, it hit me like a ton of bricks! I love teaching. I want to teach math forever! So the following year I earned my teaching credential and a masters in Multicultural Education from National University. It's now 2004 and I finally got to teach at the high school level. I worked at Birmingham High school until the day I literally got into my car and drove to Tempe- the Friday of the last day of the Fall semester this year, February 6, 2009.
